The Cardiff office provides comprehensive, multi-disciplinary professional services employing around 100 technical staff. Services provided include Highways, Railways and Transportation, Civil and Water Engineering, Building Structures and Building Services, Project Management and Strategic Consultancy for a wide ranging client base throughout the UK.
We are looking to expand our design team and seeking to appoint a Highway/Infrastructure technician in our Cardiff office. The successful candidate will join a core multi-disciplinary engineering design team, providing drafting and technical assistance on a broad range of infrastructure projects.
Job description
The Technician will be required to deliver high quality, detailed drawing for the general civils/infrastructure disciplines within tight deadlines.
• Assist in carrying out designs to current standards
• Preparation of Works Information for Highway Improvement Schemes
• Preparation of drawings for Highways Improvement Schemes
• Consideration and recording of risk assessments
• Organise and Liaise with stakeholders, local authorities, police and contractors
• Consider and prepare outline traffic management drawings
• Assist in site surveys and record information
• Assist in the production and compilation of studies and reports
• Other office duties as required
Candidate specification
Essential requirements:
• HNC Civil Engineering or equivalent and working towards I.Eng status
• 5 years experience of working in a highways/infrastructure team
• A working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Products
• The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and external contacts
• Motivated and can work on own initiative
• Full UK Driving license
Desirable criteria:
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Knowledge of MX for highway design
• Previous experience of working in a large multi-disciplinary, client facing organisation
