The Opportunity An opportunity has arisen for a Communications Systems Inspector in the South Wales Traffic Management Centre at Coryton, within our Highways and Transportation business as part of our Intelligent Transport Systems business. Intelligent Transport Systems is an integral part of our Transport Solutions business which is the Design Consultancy within Highways and Transportation, embracing all aspects of Highways and Bridges design, development and application of Intelligent Transport systems, and Strategic Asset Management. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager at Traffic Wales, you will work with a team of other professionals. The primary function of the Maintenance Department is to manage the All Wales Maintenance Contract for Road Network Communications and Tunnel Systems in Wales, on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government. You will be working on the site of the new state-of-the-art Welsh Assembly South Wales Traffic Management Centre (SWTMC) in Cardiff as part of the Traffic Wales team of approximately 60 staff. You will have the possibility of enhanced learning by being exposed to the full range of activities undertaken by the company as part of the Traffic Wales contract, and the opportunity is available to progress your career within any area of Traffic Wales or elsewhere within the group. Responsibilities Site visits, to include inspection of: · The managed asset. · The activities of the All Wales Maintenance Contractor to confirm that work is carried out as detailed in the relevant specifications and in accordance with the contract. Contract management: · Carry out revision of specifications to account for new equipment and procedures. Third party activities: · Liaise with Traffic Wales Operations and Project departments, Emergency Services, Trunk Road Agents and other stakeholders as becomes necessary. Requirements Qualifications · Suitable qualification in inspection of electrical / communication equipment installations. · IOSH (desirable). · Full driving licence. Experience (essential) · Sufficient or appropriate level of experience in carrying out inspections of electrical installations. Experience (desirable) · Working on Highways. · Working on communications systems.
