The Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a Commission Manager based in the South Wales Traffic Management Centre at Coryton, within our Highways and Transportation business as part of our Intelligent Transport Systems business. Intelligent Transport Systems is an integral part of our Transport Solutions business which is the Design Consultancy within Highways and Transportation, embracing all aspects of Highways and Bridges design, development and application of Intelligent Transport systems, and Strategic Asset Management. You will work with a team of other project professionals to ensure the operational and financial delivery of the high profile Traffic Wales commission. Responsibilities Key responsibilities of providing support to the Commission Manager will include: · Overall operational responsibility for all aspects of the commission. · To carry out the day to day management of the commission. · Co-ordinate the services being provided by all parties, including other business sectors and sub consultants. · Delivery of the services in accordance with the contract agreement and achieve the financial objectives. · Ownership of the Project Execution Plan and Project Quality Plan and monitoring delivery of services to these documents. · Update the Client and Traffic Wales Project Risk Registers and review on a monthly basis. · Review deliverables against the resource schedule and programme to establish performance against spend. These responsibilities will be discharged by delivering: · Ownership of commission finances (P&L, monthly project finance reports etc). · Chair internal management meetings. · Branch reports on behalf of client. · Recruitment. · Succession planning. · Monitoring and taking responsibility for Contract Performance Indicators. · Taking the lead on continued harmonisation activities between activities in north and south Wales. · Representing Traffic Wales and/or the client at EU level. · Building relationships with similar commissions elsewhere in the company. Requirements Qualifications · First degree in an engineering or technology based discipline or equivalent level. Experience (essential) · Proven client management, interpersonal and communication skills. · An ability to see the role of technology in supporting the business strategy and to make creative connections with other commission imperatives. · Flexible, proactive, committed and enthusiastic. · Thorough understanding of Intelligent Transport Systems' solutions, in particular the operation and delivery of managed service contracts. · Ability to collaborate well with other stakeholders to arrive at mutually beneficial solutions at all times. · Proven track record either academically or within the industry to ensure credibility in the marketplace.
