Assistant Transport Planner “Knowledge is important. Technical ability is important but, at the end of the day, working with somebody you enjoy working with is key” Senior Development Manager, 2008 A major national multi-disciplined consultancy have recently opened a new section to their Cardiff office, concentrating on a full range of Transport Planning projects for their clients within South and Mid Wales. The office will provide specialist transport planning knowledge and services required by the development fraternity combined with a detailed local understanding and familiarity with relevant local authorities and their requirements. The Role They currently require an Assistant Transport Planner to work across their growing portfolio of work. You will be required to assist with full transportation assessments, traffic Engineering and design support, including: § Feasibility Studies § Transport Assessment (TA's) § Junction Design/ Modelling and specification and installation § Micro simulation modelling § Travel plans § Traffic calming design § Home zone design § Infrastructure design § Negotiation with highway and transportation authorities to secure planning approval § Section 106 and 278 negotiations § Detailed infrastructure design, and § Site Supervision Their current workflow includes mainly private work within the retail and leisure sectors, this includes a contract with one of the world's leading retailers. The company has also been focusing on Wind Farm developers due to a recent boom in the sector. Person Specification You will need to be HND/ HNC qualified however experience is more important. You will need to have experience in planning for new roads and changes to existing roads as well as report writing. You will also need to be able to put together Transport assessments with an ability to design traffic signals, roundabouts, priority junctions and modelling.
