The Company:

The company was established in 1995 and has since grown to a turnover of approx. £2 million per annum. The current workforce consists of 24 full time employees with a fully equipped workshop producing structural steelwork, plus four teams of site workers erecting buildings, cladding and carrying out groundwork’s. You will be based in the design office out in the Dorset countryside, it as an open plan office where you can interact with your colleagues in a very professional yet quite informal manner.

Although my client is looking for someone with CAD experience, training can be given specifically for using the Strucad steelwork program where necessary.

Key Requirement:

CAD proficiency (Strucad, Autocad or similar)
Experience of Structural Steelwork preferred
Understanding of Structural drawings preferred
Good computer skills
Good communication skills
Team player
Good humoured

Main Duties:

Using the Acecad (Strucad) system, prepare fabrication drawings from Structural Engineers and Architects drawings.
To be able to prepare fabrication drawings from own design.
To produce quick model drawings for quoting purposes.
To produce materials lists for quotation purposes and/or ordering.
To produce 2D CAD drawings for submission to Local Authority for Planning Permission applications.
To be accurate in all aspects of work.
To control receipt of drawings and amendments from clients.
To issue drawings to workshop fabrication team.
To liase with workshop team throughout projects.

Personal Qualities:

The ability to be able to accurately and efficiently carry out the tasks as listed above.
To have good communication skills as direct customer liaison and site visits will form part of the job.
To have a cheerful disposition and be willingly lend a hand in any other aspect of the office environment when necessary.
