Do you have a genuine interest and enthusiasm in transport and urban planning issues and are you seeking a position which will give you the opportunity to play an influential role in our client's new transport planning team?
You will provide support to their expanding Transport Planning team in Bristol and your principal accountabilities will be as follows:
• Using mathematical and computerised simulation models to predict the effects of different road or public transport schemes. • Developing and applying statistical analysis and forecasting techniques. Participating in public consultation, initiatives, including designing leaflets or questionnaires and attending scheme exhibitions. • Assessing the transport effects and infrastructure requirements (access, car parking, bus stops, cycle parking etc) of new developments, to support planning applications or to inform local authority development plans. • Liaising with clients • Assist in financial management of projects & management of projects. • Production of written reports and other documents.
You will have a first degree or equivalent in an appropriate subject and will ideally have a postgraduate degree in transport planning or traffic engineering.
In depth experience in a transport planning occupation in either the public or the private sector would be expected, with evidence of developing responsibilities with this career.
You should have technical ability a wide range of transport planning applications, with demonstrable technical ability in at least ONE of the following fields:
• Transport modelling and analysis. • Highways or public transport scheme appraisal. • Traffic management and engineering. • Transport economics. • Policy and Strategy development attributes.
You will have excellent numeracy skills, computer literacy and data interpretation ability, good problem solving skills (finding a range of solutions, understanding their effects and making recommendations), the ability to work productively in a team and supervisory capability.
Our client will offer a competitive salary, probably in the range of £30 - 37,000 p.a., together with a generous benefits package.
