Our client's Bristol office requires a Senior Planner to work on a wide variety of road safety related projects including the development, design and delivery of effective solutions for projects on all levels of the road hierarchy and considering all type of road user.
Reporting to the Business Manager, you will be expected to undertake project management without supervision, which will include financial monitoring and control, allocation and monitoring of resources, drawing up and delivering project programmes and direct liaison with clients on technical, programme and financial issues.
You will also be required to provide technical leadership and assistance to other staff to enable them to develop their technical skills and knowledge.
With responsibility for the technical content of projects and the commercial arrangements, your further responsibilities will include the evaluation of transport planning and engineering problems, presentation of project outcomes and / or effective solutions, preparation of outline and detailed designs, production of cost estimates and the preparation of specifications and tender documents.
You will be degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant discipline and will preferably have a transport related M.Sc and RoSPA two week road safety engineering course.
With sufficient or appropriate experience, some of which must have been spent in the UK transport planning market (local authority, trunk road/motorway, developer) you will also have extensive experience of road safety engineering and accident investigation.
Project management, staff supervision and client liaison experience is essential whilst experience / knowledge in SEVERAL of the following areas would be an advantage:
• UK Local Authority background • UK Transport Planning market. • Road Safety Audit. • Road Safety Training. • Speed Management. • Safer Routes to School. • Safety Camera Partnerships. • Vulnerable Road Users. • Highway Design. • Public Transport issues (Bus Priority/Pedestrian Interface). • Traffic/Network Management. • Traffic Calming. • Data Collection/Management/Monitoring. • Software – AccsMap, KeyAccidents, SafeNet, PERS.
As well as technical competence you will need to possess commercial drive, determination and vision to make a positive contribution to the growth of the business together with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Our client will offer a competitive salary, probably in the range of £30 - 37,000 p.a., together with a comprehensive benefits package.
