Our client specialises in providing development high level advice to mainly private sector clients on access, transportation and infrastructure issues and supporting development proposals through the planning process.

Due to the continued expansion of their team they have a requirement for a Principal Engineer.

Reporting directly to the manager of the development planning team, you will be responsible for supporting the progress toward securing planning applications for sites and for managing all resources on projects as well as providing input into other projects.

Probably from a civil engineering or transportation background and preferably with MICE or CMILT (formerly MCIT) status, you will have experience as an Engineer / Transport Planner with extensive working knowledge, which should include the preparation of Travel Plans and Transport Assessments. Ideally, you will have experience of the planning process as a whole, including public inquiries / local plans.

You will have a sound knowledge of preliminary junction design and analysis, traffic software (TRICS, ARCADY, OSCADY, PICADY, TRANSYT etc.), traffic management techniques and Scottish Executive and Local Authority guidance so as to enable you accurately to guide and manage the work of others. Any experience of AutoCAD, GIS and Paramics would be advantageous.

A team player, you will also need to be able to work on your own initiative and you will need to have good written and spoken communication skills.

Our client will offer a competitive salary, probably in the range of £38 - 46,000 p.a., together with a comprehensive benefits package.
