My client, a multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking to recruit a Permanent Way Engineer / Senior Engineer.
The successful candidate will have or be responsible for: Track Surveying including
Knowledge of the Gzam system, basic project management skills including managing topographical surveys, safety critical staff & other railway disciplines, ability to undertake & lead survey teams in Hallade & Theodolite straight & Levelling, platform / structure gauging and knowledge of Laser Rail's equipment for gauging.
Plain Line including
Hallade using first principals & excel spreadsheets, theodolite straights, vertical alignment, drainage, knowledge of Clear Route software, preparation of Form A & B documents.
S&C including
Working with Topographical Surveys, S&C design in AutoCAD & MX Rail, co-planer vertical alignments through S&C, general arrangements including multi discipline GA's and 1:50 Detailed S&C manufacturers drawings.
General
Optioneering designs, both horizontally and vertically, general scheme layouts – depots / sidings, drainage design, good knowledge of Pway geometry and maths and liaison with clients.
Software Working knowledge of: AutoCAD and MS Office (Word / Excel)– essential Microstation, MX and Clear route – desirable (Training will be given) Key Competencies Skills
Consideration would be given to Highway Engineers who wish to cross train into the rail environment, but these Engineers would need to have very strong survey, MX and CAD design background, & be willing to undertake self motivated training to learn both the necessary design skills, & knowledge of the rail industry that the post will require.
Qualifications
Civil or Structural Engineering degree considered, however OND/HND (or equivalent) in a Civil Engineering qualification would be considered with sufficient experience also working towards IEng, Ceng or MICE and a PTS holder would be desirable.
On offer for this role is a very competitive salary and benefits package including a company car or equivalent allowance, 25 days leave, plus statutory holidays and an uplifted hourly rate for undertaking weekend / night time working.
