Our client is an international advisory and design consultancy with particular specialisation in Infrastructure, Property and Environmental solutions. They are currently looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Bristol. Working for them, your principle responsibility will be to lead medium scale geotechnical projects and assist on larger projects. This will involve geotechnical assessment and design, design of Phase I and Phase II investigations, which will include taking a client brief and developing contracts and specifications. You will also be required to lead and mentor junior members of staff. The role will also be to support the principal geotechnical engineer with bid preparations and tender designs. The successful candidate will have a good BSc in Civil Engineering or an Applied Geoscience. You should be in a comparable consultant role or senior role with a site investigations or civils contractor. You should also have demonstrable experience in the design of Phase I and Phase II investigations, and knowledge of NHBC standards. Ideally you will have experience in the derrivision of design parameters from SI data, design of foundations, retaining walls, basements, remedial earthworks and ground improvement. You should have expert knowledge of SLOPE, pile design and analysis of pile groups, as well as commercial management experience. The right person for this role will be personable, willing to work on own initiative and willing to take personal responsibility for the delivery of projects to clients. You must have a commercial mindset and the ability for technical sales.
