As part of an expansion in this UK leader in ecological management and assessment specialisation, vacancies have arisen in the ecology team.
This challenging role is split between office-based and site-based to support of the Senior Ecologist. Site visits and field survey will form part of your exciting daily routine throughout the year. It will be especially important to represent the Senior Ecologist on site when working with team members and contractors to deliver mitigation and survey strategies and ensure consistent technical quality and health and safety standards.
You will be required to: - Organise and undertake habitat and protected species surveys. - Conduct ecological impact assessment to IEEM guidelines. - Contribute to the preparation of the ecology and nature conservation chapters of Environmental Impact Assessments. - Planning and implementing mitigation for habitats and water management projects. - Produce associated reports and method statements. - Client, contractor and colleague liaison. - Assist in maintaining a culture within the team where the client needs and quality is paramount. - Effectively use of the internal QA system, including project planning, monitoring and reporting.
You will need: - Degree in Ecology or a related discipline. - Extensive professional experience working as an Ecologist within a consultancy environment, where you have undertaken ecological field surveys, EIA mitigation design, ecological restoration and have experience of preparing habitat management plans. - Knowledge of current legislation. - Competency in Phase 1 habitat survey and protected species surveys is essential. - Ideally, you will be a full member of the IEEM or possess the experience to become a member and hold at least one protected species licence, ideally a bat licence.
