This world-wide environmental consultancy has an exciting opening for an enthusiastic, determined individual. Bristol / Cardiff based Soil & Groundwater team currently comprises approximately 30 professional scientists and engineers and is seeking an experience civils based chartered engineer to assist with DD&R related projects to complement the existing specialist team with similar expertise in this field across the UK/Europe.
The primary role of the DD&R Engineer will be to provide technical expertise in the design, procurement and implementation of demolition, decommissioning and remediation orientated projects for single and multiple sites.
Remediation projects would include ground and groundwater remediation projects particularly large-scale civil engineering-based systems.
Key requirements of the role will include the ability to develop detailed designs, specifications, bills of quantities and drawings for DD&R related projects, manage tender procurement and the preparation of contractual documentation.
The appointed person will also be required to manage and direct project implementation in a "hands on" capacity in order to develop other less experienced staff in their skills to write and prepare specifications and issue contractor instructions. As such, the successful candidate may also take on directly a senior project management role for a larger scale projects with primary responsibility for the management of the overall technical program, client communications, project budget, quality of work and timeliness.
The appointed person will be highly motivated with strong communication skills, both internally and externally, with the ability to effectively manage the priorities and expectations of the many stakeholders involved in such projects.
You will need: BSc - Geology, Environmental Science or Engineering Discipline. MSc (or higher) Hydrogeology, Water Resources or similar Engineering/Numerate Discipline. Experience in demolition / engineering design, procurement, and implementation of remediation systems (particularly process, as well as civils-related) would be beneficial. Must have strong client interface experience as well as good organisational, verbal and written communication skills.
