This leading environmental consultancy seeks an outstanding ecologist to work in their Gloucester office. Working with other ecologists, departments and offices, you will help plan and undertake Bat and other protected species surveys in support of the work our consultancy undertakes.
Core Responsibilities.: Assist with planning and preparation of fieldwork. Undertake Bat surveys in support of a range of projects. Collate, write up, and analyse ecological data for inclusion in environmental impact assessments and other ecology reports. Carry out background research in support of technical reports. Provide support to other team members on a range of tasks.
You should have: Good experience of bat surveys and detectors and you will need to be able to go out from day one and carry out this work. Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, knowledge of role of ecology within the planning process and understanding of ecological systems. Knowledge and experience of both birds or bats is especially desirable. Knowledge of other protected species is desirable as are and handling licences.
Qualifications required. Relevant ecology environmental degree or demonstration of technical ability through lower degree and work experience.
You should be an outgoing, reliable, self motivated and organised person. With the ability to work motivated on one's own and as an active team member and prepared to travel. Good interpersonal skills and keen to work within a consultancy. My clients ecology team needs to expand to service and grow its existing ecological portfolio, so this is an excellent opportunity to further develop technical and business skills in a stimulating and supportive environment.
A home working position is also available for candidates with a range of experience in all surveys including bats and general protected species
