SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEERS PRINTING EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGIES WEYMOUTH
Senior Software Engineers are now required by our client, the world’s leading provider of equipment and processes for the high accuracy mass imaging of electronic materials. Based in Weymouth, the Senior Software Engineer will provide software development and design expertise for various projects.
As a competent Senior Software Engineer, the jobholder’s responsibilities will tend to be broader, as compared to a Software Engineer, in both complexity and diversity. The jobholder will also tend to be responsible for all aspects of the development cycle of mainly more complex software designs (e.g. identification of requirements, generation and testing of solutions and commissioning/ sign-off). In this role you will carry out modelling of software related problems using predominately UML. You will liaise with internal and external staff (e.g. Customer Service Engineers, Engineers from within Software Engineering and other Engineering disciplines and directly with customers) for the purpose of clarifying the exact nature of identified faults and parameters for project success. You will undertake deliverables within a large project or a complete smaller project, to agreed targets (time, cost, quality) and act as software expert when liaising directly with customers during consultation process for new or existing business. You will be using predominately C or C++ programming languages, in relation to the project in question to develop new code; enhance existing code or de-bug existing code. You will carry out unit testing of developed code, rectifying errors/ faults as and when identified and where appropriate liaise with Systems Test to undertake integration and full testing activities.
Furthermore, you will provide coaching and guidance, in your own areas of expertise, to more junior members of the Software Engineering team. You will adhere to and comply with all relevant departmental and company standards/ procedures and complete associated documentation for example software development checklists/procedures. You will release notes (to be forwarded to Team Leaders and Product Managers) and as and when required, lead specific software projects undertaking scheduling activities as appropriate. You will attend design and code review meetings, as required by the project team leader/s, to confirm progress made, difficulties encountered and to receive information from other project team members. Furthermore, you will deputise for the Software Team Leader as and when appropriate.
Qualified to degree or equivalent level preferably in an engineering/ computing or science related discipline you will need significant experience working successfully in a software engineering role.
