Job Description
To provide a successful project engineering service from enquiry to order stage of projects, and from site commencement to practical completion of all contracts ensuring that company practices and standards are maintained by the effective management of a team to achieve this, where appropriate.
Responsibilities:
Work with the business development team and branch management in the preparation and presentation to customer pre-tender selection meetings of the technical and commercial benefits of the selection of the company. On all occasions assist in securing for the company opportunities to bid for projects with a profitable potential Contribute to the preparation of accurate project estimates and the preparation of bid documentation for agreement by management that will ensure the winning by the company of projects with a profitable potential Assist, where required, in all aspects of the company negotiations leading to the securing for the company of contracts for which bids have been made Prepare a master requisition for the exact materials, equipment and plant for the re-engineered project specification and drawings and obtain the signed agreement of the senior management for their purchase Obtain at least three quotations for each element of major plant, equipment and sub-contract required by the re-engineered project and present these to contract management with a technical appraisal and recommendation for the acceptance of the best fully conforming offer Consult and participate with the buyers in procuring the exact materials, equipment and plant for the re-engineered project specification, ensuring that the dates for delivery to the site are co-ordinated with the project programme and that the agreed prices are within the parameters of the re-engineered project budget Contribute to the work of the planner in developing from the analysis a bar chart programme document, labour histogram and planned production ‘S’ curve and ensure that production measurement taken from the project works in progress is compared regularly and that action is taken to correct any adverse deviation from plan In conjunction with the commercial department and the contracts manager assist in the preparation of any negotiation and agreement of the project final account
Qualifications:
Ideally educated to degree standard in a related subject, but with a minimum qualification of HNC or equivalent
