Electrical Design Engineer – AutoCAD – must be prepared to undertake worldwide travel - experience of the design of industrial electrical systems and/or industrial drives systems and/or PLC and plant coordination automation systems - based Christchurch, Bournemouth – salary £28 - 35K
We are looking for anElectrical Design Engineer who is competent with AutoCAD and HNC/HND qualified (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific discipline to design electrical cabinets, cubicles and panels and to take responsibility for the release of electrical drawings for an aluminium rolling and processing automation business.
The Electrical Design Engineer should be familiar with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel and be prepared to undertake worldwide travel. The role will demand a high level of commitment and initiative, suiting an Electrical Design Engineer who is positive, well organised and willing to accept responsibility whilst contributing effectively within a team.
Candidates should, preferably, have experience in any or all of the following with a willingness to develop skills in areas not previously encountered:
Designing industrial electrical systems Industrial drives systems Basic (PLC) and plant coordination automation systems The ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings will be an advantage, as would a working knowledge of the EN61010 standard and experience with Eplan, SIGRAPH or similar electrical design and document management tools .
Reporting to the Section Leader – Systems Engineering the day to day duties of the role will include
Providing AutoCAD mechanical drawings for the design of electrical cubicles, panels and associated equipment for an aluminium business
Providing electrical drawings for aluminium automation equipment
Maintaining a parts lists to accompany the drawings.
Life-cycle management of electrical drawings:
Maintenance of standardised drawings Release of drawings and parts lists for production Customisation for bespoke project requirements Incorporation of improvements fed back from site installations Update and closeout of project electrical drawings following the site installation & commissioning Ensuring that electrical equipment is designed to comply with:
being fit for purpose health & safety legislation being economic to manufacture and maintain. Occasional involvement with site installations
All candidates should have a current Driving Licence and passport and be prepared to travel both nationally and internationally, possibly at short notice.
