Job Summary
Atkins is one of the largest providers of energy consultancy and engineering support services in the UK. Within the Nuclear sector, Atkins has an exceptional reputation for delivering innovative, cost-effective business and engineering solutions to owners, operators, regulators and suppliers to nuclear licensed sites. Our Nuclear Generation, Decommissioning and Defence teams have vacancies for Control and Instrumentation Engineers at various grades within our offices in Bristol, Cumbria, Epsom, Reading and Warrington.Key responsibilities will include:
  • Control and Instrumentation equipment specification, assessment and justification
  • Front End Engineering Design package generation
  • Project cost and time control and reporting
  • Liaison with clients, suppliers and contractors


Requirements
We would expect you to be Chartered (or working towards Chartership), have a good relevant engineering degree and be able to demonstrate sound technical experience. In addition, you will have experience in one or more of the following:

    Conventional/nucleonic instrumentation Safety Instrumented Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, Fire Detection Systems
  • Safety standards (IEC 61508, 61511, 61513, SIL categorisation and safety
  • Previous nuclear power station or nuclear industry experience
  • Availability, Reliability and Maintainability
  • Fault trees, FMEA, HAZOP knowledge
  • Automation system design
Nuclear industry experience would be an advantage however, we are principally looking for first class Control and Instrumentation Engineers who have the capacity to learn and develop their skills for the nuclear industry.
