Team Lead Mechanical Engineer - Nuclear (or other highly regulated) industry experience - experience of managing and coordinating Mechanical Handling Engineering design teams - based Bristol - salary £37 - 50K plus
We are looking for a Team Lead Mechanical Engineer with experience of Nuclear (or other highly regulated) industry (ideally AWE) standards & procedures, specifications, safety case and requirements
Candidates for the position of Team Lead Mechanical Engineer should be Chartered professionals or have corporate membership of a relevant professional body/institution together with significant experience of managing and coordinating the activities and output of Mechanical Handling Engineering design teams
The role will involve acting as Technical Lead Engineer for the design of mechanical handling equipment and provide mentoring of Area Lead Engineers so will require significant experience of obtaining formal acceptance of design output and of Mechanical Handling Engineering construction/installation techniques and practices
Also a plus would be experience of Unigraphics NX4 / Teamcenter and knowledge of current CDM regulations and relevant national and international design codes and standards
A working knowledge of AWE design processes would be of benefit as would knowledge of PUWER regulations, LOLER and Stress analysis
The role will involve:-
* Providing Technical project representation to AWE
* Checking and approving technical specifications, documents & reports, diagrams etc
* Producing and checking calculations to support the design
* Carrying out risk assessments
* Customer liaison
* Attending and participating in design reviews
* Ensuring that the Mechanical Handling Engineering design is compatible with the safety case
* Identifying, documenting and managing all design team interfaces
* Carrying out Value Engineering on design aspects of the project
* Delivering a Mechanical Handling Engineering design which complies with AWE Design Safety Principles
* Ensuring that nuclear safety standards are met in the delivery of the Mechanical Handling Engineering design.
* To ensure that the Mechanical Handling Engineering design and the safety case are mutually explanatory.
