We are currently looking to recruit a Structures Design Manager who will be responsible for managing a small team of Naval Architects and Engineers in the delivery of technical tasks associated with submarine structures, nuclear containment and submarine escape, rescue and abandonment on in-service RN submarines.
The role includes the management / review / acceptance of all technical work, team and resource management, budget control, sub-contractor management, customer liaison and business development. The applicant shall provide a flexible, innovative and adaptable support service.
The successful applicant will be technically qualified to degree level, or equivalent, in a Structural / Naval Architecture based discipline. The applicant will be expected to be Chartered, belonging to a relevant professional body, and have significant background and experience in submarine design or operations.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate sound project management skills, technical knowledge and people management skills, be able to communicate competently at all levels, be commercially and contractually aware and self-motivated. Experience of MoD working practices is essential.
