Senior Mechanical Engineer – Weapons Handling Equipment - Defence Industry - knowledge of MoD and UK lifting equipment regulations - based Bristol - salary £28 - 37K
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work within a technical support team in a Defence Support and Service area zone which provides technical support to customers with regards to submarine Weapons Handling Equipment.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer should be able to demonstrate engineering experience in the operation, maintenance and design of submarine weapon handling and embarkation equipment and have knowledge of MoD and UK lifting equipment regulations such as LOLAR
The Senior Mechanical Engineer (Weapons Handling equipment) should also have a good knowledge S, T and V class submarine Book Reference (BR) and Tactical Weapons Operating Procedures
All candidates should be team players with good written and oral communication skills oral communication skills.
Experience in 2D & 3D CAD packages would be advantageous.
You would be expected to perform work involving considerable independence in approach, demanding originality, ingenuity and judgement and make technical decisions and determine courses of action necessary to expedite accomplishment of projects.
Day to day tasks will include:-
* Responding to customer queries relating to the equipment
* Evaluating and making decisions on Production Deviation Permits, Concessions and Modifications
* Writing, modifying and checking operating procedures
The Senior Mechanical Engineer would be expected to perform duties requiring the application of mature professional engineering knowledge, coordinate activities on more complex assignments and handle the resolution of problems, drawing on practical experience or devising an innovative approach. Working without detailed supervision when undertaking responsible engineering assignments, you would work as a member of a multidisciplinary team including other professional engineers and may plan, assign, review and check the work of these technical staff.
