Buyer – Defence, Aerospace and nuclear related company – basic working knowledge of contract law - understanding of commercial issues and modern purchasing techniques - based Bristol - 12 month contract – salary £22 – 25K
We are looking for a Buyer for a 12 month contract who has relevant experience in a procurement role and is educated to degree (or equivalent) level and who has completed or is working towards MCIPS.
The Buyer would need negotiating skills and a basic working knowledge of contract law together with an understanding of commercial issues and modern purchasing techniques.
Computer literate (including Microsoft Word and Excel) all candidates for the position of Buyer must be capable of prioritising and multi-tasking, communicating effectively and have an aptitude for learning new techniques, methods and principles.
This Buying position will hold responsibility for the procurement of a wide range of materials and services, including vendor selection, negotiation and supplier management and will require the buyer to work as part of a multifunctional project team and gain an understanding of project requirements such as schedule and budget.
The role will also involve obtaining competitive bids, quotations and proposals with pertinent specifications and terms and conditions from suppliers and candidates should be capable of evaluating and negotiating competitive offerings to determine the overall best offer for a product or service and select supplier in line with the company’s current strategy.
Acting as the main point of contact with the suppliers, the Buyer will be required to manage the flow of information between the company and its suppliers; monitoring the progress of orders, working with suppliers to resolve any issues and reporting back to internal customers
To undertake these role candidates must be capable of prioritising and multi-tasking, and working to agreed schedules and budgets and possess a flexible approach to the workload.
