Senior Geotechnical Engineer, Bristol

My Client enjoys a reputation as one of the countries leading environmental consulting companies, employing in excess of 260 environmental specialists within a diverse geographical spread throughout mainland Britain and Ireland.

Role

A Principal Geotechnical Engineer is required to join the Geotechnical Design team to be based in the Bristol office. This forms an integral part of the Ground Engineering Services team in the region; namely Wales and the South West. The successful individual will join part of a busy team of geo-environmental engineers in a vibrant office with plenty of scope to develop their career.
 

Duties will include the following:
Carry out slope stability analysis, earth retaining structures, pile design, foundation parameters and retaining wall design etc.
Project Management
Mentor and train more junior staff
Communicate effectively with clients and contactors
Compile factual and interpretative reports
Compile earthworks specifications
Financial Control
Business Development
Lab test scheduling and interpretation

Key Competencies

Geotechnical Design
Able to log both soil and rock to BS 5930
Scheduling and testing to BS1377
Able to work to budget and timescales
Design Risk Assessment
Communicate effectively with clients, contractors and other team staff

Qualifications:
Graduate engineers qualified to BSc (Hons) in Geology, B Eng Civil Engineering or other relevant discipline are required
Preferably an Msc in Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering

Experience:
Candidates must have extensive experience of Geotechnical design and site investigation and ideally either be Chartered or be working towards Chartered status. They should be able to demonstrate experienced in the following areas:

Geotechnical Design
Desk studies
logging soils and rocks to BS5930
Lab test scheduling
SI design and management in the UK,
Contaminated Land/Brownfield investigations and remediation experience preferably
Interpretative reporting,
Financial control of projects
Slope Stability Analysis
Use or knowledge of Holebase III
Use or knowledge of FE Packages, Slope W, WALLOP etc
