Buyer required for a large highways company based in North Bristol. Working from the regional office you will be resposible for projects across the whole of the South West. Your main duties will include.
Principal Responsibilities / Key Duties: • To receive and investigate purchase requests and evaluate to ensure correct purchasing decisions are being made. • Procurement of materials and services in highways term maintenance environment • Negotiating terms and conditions within agreed parameters • Achievement of Best Value across the service • Establish Market testing of existing framework call off agreements. Set and agree priorities with the Supply Chain Manager. • Placing and managing call-off orders ensuring operational compliance • Where applicable, source suitable vendors where current preferred or approved suppliers don’t exist. • Ensure that commercial leverage is maximized with all key suppliers, applying competitive selection processes • Assist and advise users in the drafting of product specifications with reference to existing preferred and approved suppliers • Identify benchmarks for key suppliers and agree ongoing performance measurement systems with operations. • Complying with company systems, processes and procedures • Liaison with accounts team to assist in ensuring accurate and timely payment and cost recording • Work with operations to identify supply and service requirements. • Making enquiries and recording results
