Chartered Civil / Structural Engineer vacancy working for a leading engineering consultancy based in Bristol, South West England.
 
Within the UK, the nuclear industry is undergoing a renaissance. The combined challenge of supporting a programme of new build development and safely decommissioning legacy infrastructure requires highly motivated individuals with innovative thinking and a desire to make a difference. Our client requires a Chartered Senior Civil / Structural Design Engineer to work on major new build nuclear facilities in support of the multi-billion pound UK nuclear decommissioning and clean-up programme. You will have with either a heavy industry civil or structural engineering background to undertake work on a wide variety of challenging projects associated with both the continued operation and decommissioning of the UK's existing nuclear installations.
 
The role will involve working within a small team of engineers, either independently or as a team leader depending on the size and nature of the Project. Typically, the work undertaken will be associated with major reinforced concrete and steel structures for Nuclear Installations where their Client requires either the construction of new facilities, the modification of existing facilities, or the design substantiation of structures in support of safety cases.

Responsibilities will include: -
·Undertaking both temporary and permanent works design and the checking of design work produced by others.
·Liasing with the customer and where required the customer's stakeholders to ensure that their needs are fully understood and met.
·Supervising and co-ordinating the work of others within the design team and work being undertaken by external multi discipline design teams.
·Managing the production of calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
·Providing support and guidance to junior team members.

A Chartered Engineer (MICE or MIStructE) with experience in the design of reinforced concrete and steelwork structures, especially major structures such as bridges, deep basement etc. Previous experience within the nuclear or other regulated industries would be beneficial but is not essential.
