Job Description We are seeking to expand and strengthen our river modelling capability in the Rivers & Coastal business (South West) of Atkins Water & Environment. In the role of Principal Modeller the candidate will also take a leading role within our business acting as a Project Manager for a variety of river / coastal projects. The candidate will also contribute to the successful management of the Business Unit and provide a positive interface with client staff in order to develop trust and strong working relationships
Requirements
The ideal candidate will either be a principal engineer or principal scientist able to demonstrate technical excellence in a range of 1-D and 2-D river modelling packages including ISIS, HEC-RAS, and TUFLOW. The candidate will also have strong hydrological, CFMP and FRA/SFRA skills. Resource planning, project management and strong communication skills are essential and the candidate must be able to manage a team and supervise the work of others. Ideally, but not essential, the candidate should have experience of working on the Environment Agency's NEECA framework. It is expected that the candidate will also be a Chartered engineer / scientist with either the ICE or CIWEM.
Responsibilities The role will primarily involve the technical and resource management of a team constructing and verifying fluvial hydraulic models. The candidate will be expected to work in an integrated team of river / coastal engineers / environmental scientists and modellers. The role will include responsibility for the technical and financial management of projects, for business development and training of junior staff.
