The Senior Stress Engineer
Typical responsibilities include:
Functional Management of Stress Engineers deployed into aircraft project team(s). Your responsibilities include: Deployment of engineers within project (teams) to satisfy individual's development requirements and business need. Conducting/overseeing employee Performance Development Reviews PDR's, including identification/Approval of attendance at training courses and contribution to grandfathering process (Recommendation of promotions salary increases etc) Identification of resource requirements, Interviewing and recruitment of staff. Expense claim approval.
Technical Leadership within the aircraft project team(s) Ensuring design solutions are structurally optimized and the best solution is attained Stress signing of data for manufacture, approval of technical documents, concessions and technique sheets etc Ensure core engineering methods, tools and policies etc. are identified and adhered to within the design team Representing the stress function at design reviews at all levels, including presentations to the Authorities Definition and approval of design and certification plans Identification of best practice and innovations for implementation to further enhance our products.
The following skills/qualities will be required: Strong experience working as an aircraft stress engineer, with a further experience as team leader. The ability to react and assess difficult, multi facetted structural problems under pressure and provide the appropriate direction and guidance to team members. Ensuring that solutions are technically integrated across the whole project is a prerequisite.
Wide range of experience covering static, fatigue and Damage Tolerance of both composite and metallic structures using a broad range of standard hand and computer methods. A thorough understanding of aircraft production methods and processes. Ability to operate with high regard for both internal and external; customers, whilst maintaining Aircraft integrity as the over-riding principle. The ability lead a large team of Stress Engineers, to develop and coach less experienced engineers, and to set stretching, but realistic targets to section leaders. Experience in working in an international environment, additional languages is advantageous. Aeronautical Engineering degree or equivalent. Chartered Engineer or equivalent.
