We are currently recruiting on behalf of our prestigious client based in Bristol for a Fatugue and Damage Tolerance Engineer.

Candidates need to have aerospace experience within a commercial environment.


The Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Engineer


The job involves the analysis of aircraft structure using the standard fatigue and crack growth methods to develop design solutions within the project teams.

The work will involve liaison with Static Stress, Design and appropriate company departments in Toulouse to come up with optimum design solutions for the airline customer and to define maintenance programs.
The engineer will carry out fatigue, crack growth and residual strength calculations to assess design solutions using standard hand and computer methods.
The engineer will be expected to liaise with the Methods and Data group in order to ensure that methods, assumptions, data and procedures reflect on-going developments.

Skills and Experience

Experience working as an engineer, preferably in the aircraft industry, involved in fatigue and crack growth analysis of metallic structures using a broad range of standard hand and computer methods is desired.
An understanding of the fundamental method of analysis for fatigue and crack growth and an ability to develop these methods would be expected. Engineers would also be expected to have an ability to assess structural analysis problems.
Some knowledge of the application of FE analysis and an understanding of aircraft production methods and processes would be beneficial.
Experience of PC and mainframe computer systems would be expected.
A team player with a high regard for internal and external customers, whilst maintaining aircraft integrity as the over-riding principle is expected.
