The Avionics Systems Lead Engineer This role is within the Information Management Architecture and Integration Department. The vacancy is for an avionics systems engineer to lead a small group of engineers developing and integrating the modular avionics concept for aircraft.
The candidate will be expected to directly manage key customer interfaces for: * The technical requirements of the systems that will be integrated onto the modular avionics platform * The provision of deliverables (documentation and components) required by the user systems.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the route to system integration and qualification on the modular avionics platform is adequately planned and monitored and that the requirements on the system suppliers are clearly explained and any resulting problems addressed.
The candidate will be responsible for assigning and managing tasks to the team of engineers undertaking the modular avionics activities in the UK in conjunction with the management team.
The candidate will be expected to provide strong technical leadership to anticipate technical issues and resolve system integration problems. IMA is a new Avionic Platform for new client Aircraft and requires a strong collaborative multipartner approach. To work in this field the successful candidate should therefore possess the following skills: * A good communicator. You will be working with colleagues from different countries and with a technology which is new to most people. Clear, unambiguous communication is essential in this position. * Working knowledge of Avionic systems and various interface types * An advanced user of MS Office tools in order to communicate effectively * Able to present, often to a large number of people
* An understanding of Real-Time systems and their requirements of the hardware in which they are installed. * An understanding Safety Critical systems and their requirements of the hardware on which they are installed * An understanding of distributed avionic architectures would be advantageous
Typically the candidate will have gained relevant experience in a systems engineering role in an aerospace company, gaining the following experience / knowledge;
* Component development, verification, qualification and approval within a civil aviation environment. * Working within the constraints of various Aviation standards * Demonstrated ability to work in a demanding industrial relationship with both customers and suppliers.
The candidate should typically have: * A degree in Aerospace, Avionics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or a related subject. * Experience in the aerospace industry related to civil avionics.
The candidate will: * Be based in Filton, Bristol. * Be expected to travel on a regular basis within Europe.
Working knowledge of French and / or German will be an advantage.
