Job Profile
The Economics and Finance team, within the Generation Renewable Energy subdivision of our client’s Energy Unit, provides economic, financial, policy and strategic advisory services to Governments, Regulators, Project Sponsors, Investors IFI’s Multilateral Funding Agencies and others: primarily for policy and appraisal and evaluation, regularity reforms, infrastructure & development projects in both fossil and renewable energy.
They add value to their client businesses by providing support in project negotiations, executing mergers & acquisition deals, conducting investment appraisal, feasibility studies, market modelling and forecasts, due to diligence exercises, formulating national policies, developing business, and risk management strategies and carrying out asset valuation.
Job Description
Developing scenarios for energy markets looking at prices, energy production and use investment appraisal for the energy sector, using discounted cash flow and cost benefit analysis methods. Examining impacts of economic and environmental regulation on energy market stakeholders
Valuing assets in energy production, transmission and distribution Reviewing and evaluating energy markets rules and regulations and developing models (generally spreadsheet based)
Managing or leading project work, retaining and developing relationships with clients and potentially developing new business opportunities for the Economics team.
You will support two recently recruited economists and work on a day to day basis under guidance from the Chief Economist.
The Candidate
Ideally, the candidate would have a background in economics, with focus on energy/environmental issues. All applicants should be educated to degree level.
Candidates should have experience within the energy sector, either industry, government agency or consultancy.
A post-graduate qualification is desirable.
