Our client are a small software developer working mainly within the travel industry, thier main product is a system for small and medium sized tour operators for which it currently has 16 customers.
The core system is based on a Microsoft SQL database with a VB user interface. The system also links to a number of 3rd party applications, such as airline reservations systems, using XML and Web Services, they have also developed websites for its customers in ASP.Net (C#).
Crrently in the process of migrating the core tour operating system to a .Net environment using an object-oriented design and the latest programming tools our client seek to hire a Junior Software Developer / Support Analyst to carry out the following tasks;
- First and second line support for existing VB / MSSQL tour operating application
- Support and development of links from main application to 3rd party XML and Web Service applications
- Development assistance in migration of existing application to .Net object-oriented environment using leading-edge technologies
The type of individual we are looking for is likely to be a Graduate in computer related studies looking to start a rounded career in the industry with an understanding of database related technology, object-oriented design and web programming.
You will show a willingness to work across multi-language applications (VB, C#, Javascript, SQL), be enthusiastic and willing to learn with excellent communication skills, a pro-active nature and ability to develop good relationships with customers and within a small team
