An exciting opportunity is available for a Project Manager (IT) based in Uxbridge for this large defence company. The IT Project Manager will report to the IT Relationship Ldr (PM Systems & Bid IT), and has responsibility to specific programmes, bids or proposal teams. These responsibilities include:
• To work with Programme Management to develop detailed plans for delivery of IT systems, both for customer and programme use. Scope may cover infrastructure (networks, servers, workstations); applications (collaboration, project management, engineering, Enterprise Resource Planning, Logistic Support etc); operations, and support • To work with Bid/Proposal teams to develop project material, and costed proposals and tenders for IT systems • To work with the Bid, Proposal and active programmes to define and maintain IT Security Procedures and accreditations as required • To work as an integral part of the IT team to ensure flawless delivery including training, testing, support, problem resolution, and handover of this service to the programme, ensuring that the programme solutions are implemented in accordance with common processes, procedures and architecture • In particular, to work with programme, customer, and partner staff to implement systems, including training, testing, support, problem resolution, and handover. • Responsible for Project / Programme work as part of the IT Team, across all sites. • Based in Uxbridge, visits may also be required to other sites. Some effort may be also be required at other customer and partner organisation sites.
Required Skills: • Wide grounding in all aspects of IT, including infrastructure, applications, operations and support, with detailed knowledge of at least two of these • Experience of implementing a major systems rollout in a large organisation • Formal project management training/qualification e.g. Prince 2 • Experience in customer focussed roles
Competencies • Project management, including planning, tracking, progressing and finance • Excellent communication skills, including presentation and written reports • Understanding of defining IT Business requirements and implementation • Commercially aware • Understanding of IT/Systems Engineering disciplines, including requirements management, configuration management, change control, reliability analysis and quality management • Wide knowledge of all aspects of IT • Understanding and experience of Business Systems Analysis techniques and practice
Desired Skills: • Six Sigma qualified or equivalent • IT Security accreditation / implementation
