You will ideally be degree qualified (Civil, Geography, Maths etc.) although an HNC / HND would be acceptable, and whilst not essential a postgraduate qualification in transportation planning and engineering would be useful.
Your experience must include working on a predominantly development planning workload and should include some time working for a private sector consultancy.
With the ability to demonstrate experience of the transport impact analysis of development proposals, preliminary design of site access junction arrangements and offsite transport infrastructure improvements, you will also have proficient use of computer modelling programmes such as PICADY, ARCADY, LINSIG, and TRANSYT and experience in the preparation of Transport Assessment reports. You will be at an advantage if you are capable of taking a TA from conception all the way through to completion, including negotiations with the Highway Authority.
You should be aware of the commercial environment in which you are working and in particular be beginning to understand the ‘added value’ element of the service that private sector consultants provide to their clients. Consequently, you should anticipate a ‘can do’ culture where whatever is required is done in an effort to provide clients with the level of service that they expect.
The ability to work using your own initiative is essential.
Our client is willing to offer an above market salary for a talented candidate to fill this key position, which will be negotiable but probably in the range of £32 - 36,000 p.a., together with a benefits package, which will include a bonus, 25 days annual leave, non-contributory pension, life insurance and private medical insurance for yourself and family.
