Due to expanding work load we have the above vacancies. Reporting to a Director you will deliver drainage and infrastructure designs for private developers. You will be involved in the construction process from planning to site. You will directly manage a team of 4-6 technical staff. You will represent the company at client meetings and will be responsible for financial and technical management of your projects. This will include commissioning outside parties for surveys and road safety audits. Typical projects will include detailed highways and drainage design for new private developments (residential, commercial and retail), drainage design for refurbishment of existing structures, preparation of feasibility reports/strategic drainage studies for planning. Many projects require working with other company divisions including International on large multi disciplinary projects

Person Specification

The successful candidate is unlikely to have less than 5 years relevant experience, most of which will be in the UK. The candidate will be, or will be approaching, chartered status with a relevant professional institution.

Essential

Degree qualified

Good knowledge of highway and drainage design guides

Good knowledge of highway and drainage adoption agreements (S278/S106 etc, Sewers for adoption)

Good knowledge of statutory authority’s procedures and experience of coordinating protection and/or diversion of their plant

Experience of 3D highway design packages

Experience of drainage modelling packages using the rational method

Good report writing skills

Client facing skills

Desirable:

Knowledge of the UK planning process

Knowledge of the Water Industry Act

Knowledge of the Building Regulations

Experience of designing schemes incorporating Sustainable Drainage Systems and the various CIRIA and industry best practice guides

Experience of Highways Agency schemes
