Role The position is within the Waste Planning and Permitting Team. The exact details of the role and responsibilities will be flexible and dependent on the experience of the applicant, but may be expected to include the following: Preparing and assisting with preparing Planning Applications, Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Permit applications for waste management facilities and minerals developments. This could include landfill, energy from waste, recycling, transfer and treatment facilities as well as mineral extraction site, modifications to planning consents, risk/impact assessments, planning policy and need reviews and post submission work including assisting with public inquiries and expert witness work. Familiarity with relevant waste and minerals legislation would be an advantage. Project management of medium and large scale multidisciplinary projects, managing in-house project teams and third party contributions, including resource management, project programming, budget control, project delivery and client liaison. Preparing and assisting with preparing proposals and tenders for new work, including interpreting the brief, specification of works required and estimating. Assistance with business development, client contact, market research, attending client meetings etc. Work mainly office-based but may be required to work on site, or from other offices or clients' premises as required by the project. May very occasionally be required to work away from home for periods of time. Key Competencies Skills: Familiarity with the waste and minerals industries, methods and technologies employed in waste management, principles of waste planning and strategy, and legislation & guidance affecting these sectors; Qualifications: Relevant degree, UK driving licence Experience: An appropriate amount of professional experience, ideally in environmental/planning consultancy Personal Qualities: Able to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
