The Environment Team provides a range of specialist environmental support to internal and external clients and has an increasing workload within both the transportation and development sectors. The team is currently looking to expand to meet its current and future commitments and thus progression prospects are excellent. Mentoring towards Chartered Environmentalist status will be provided if necessary.
JOB DESCRIPTION Duties will involve the provision of ecological surveys and assessments for proposed highways engineering works. This will include subsequent contract document preparation, and ensuring that ecological requirements are satisfied during the construction process. The candidate will also be required to provide ecological input to EIAs for transport related projects and other development schemes elsewhere within the UK, necessitating short periods away from base. CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION Essential The successful candidate will have first a degree in Ecology or a directly related subject. They will also have a minimum of two years relevant experience. The candidate must be a member of IEEM. Good report writing skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Participatory experience of statutory environmental assessment procedures; Direct experience of obtaining a variety of protected species licenses and liaising with Regulatory Bodies to negotiate and obtain consents; and, Driving licence. Desirable A second degree in Ecology or a related subject, and two years experience in a commercial environment; and, EIA experience, preferably connected with highways or other transportation major schemes. Working knowledge of the requirements of documents such as WebTAG and DMRB.
