Job profile
To work as an EMC engineer in a small developing EMC team within the Traction Power section of the Railways Division. This team is involved in a number of ongoing projects relating to the management and assessment of EMC issues within the railway and light rail industries. These projects include, but are not limited to, Traction Power projects.
Job description
Analysing EMC problems affecting railway/light rail projects. Preparing EMC-related documents (e.g. EMC Control Plans). Reviewing EMC-related documents prepared by others. Participating in EMC test activity and other on-site activity as required. Analysing EMC test data using computer packages such as Matlab. Providing expertise, as required, relating to EMF issues as they affect the railway/light rail industries. Undertaking any non-EMC work within the Traction Power section, as required and appropriate. Candidate specification Essential academic, professional qualifications and experience:
Degree qualified in Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering or other relevant subject area. C.Eng. EMC experience. Desired academic, professional qualifications and experience:
EMC qualifications. Higher degree in a relevant area. Essential competencies / skills:
Good understanding of the technical issues relevant to EMC and EMF within the railway/light rail environments. Good communication skills. Well organised, flexible and highly motivated. Desired competencies / skills:
Good understanding of the legislative and standard requirements relating to EMC and EMF as applicable to the railway/light rail industries.
