Our client is a leading provider of enterprise class data storage subsystems and network technology.
Our client is looking for someone to work within a new business area developing leading edge technology and prototypes for data storage solutions for the IT industry. Responsible for leading a team that evaluates and/or creates emerging technologies that may subsequently lead to new products being developed.
The FPD Project Manager is responsible running the Concept and Feasibility stages of the product development lifecycle.
Working with Product Management, CTO and Architects, the FPD Project manager is responsible for documenting and evaluating requirements, driving consensus and decisions around requirements, feasibility planning and results.
Where applicable the FPD Project Manager will be responsible for the creation and execution of technology demonstration projects and early product prototypes. This includes planning resources and priorities in a dynamic environment where multiple projects will be running concurrently with constant evaluation of priorities.
The objective is to deliver technology validation prototypes and/or studies on the validity/suitability of the technology.
Responsibilities: - To create, own and report on the project plan and associated expenses - Develop a set of interlocked and prioritised project plans for the technology areas, negotiating with Functional Managers within the New Product Development group to supply engineering resources and commit dates for each major activity - Ensure the project is run to plan and provides the necessary deliverables that justify moving the project past its next checkpoints. At each major checkpoint, the Project Manager under-writes the next deliverable of the project - Manage tight deadlines and budget in a dynamic and creative environment - Manage the build activities for prototypes where applicable
Experience and Qualifications: - The ideal candidate will be degree educated, in a related discipline - Accredited project management skills - Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the company and with customers - Strong interpersonal skills, good leadership skills, good negotiating skills and will be highly motivated, independent and a self-starter - Experience in working with emerging technology areas especially within creative, advanced technology development teams - The role may entail foreign (primarily US) travel, but could include Malaysia and India
