Our client is a leading provider of enterprise class data storage subsystems and network technology.
The test engineer will primarily be required to support front-end of the product development lifecycle.
Tasks will include the following; - Liaising with engineering and management to determine requirements for new or modified products and provide formal test specifications - Defining overall test strategies - Defining and documenting acceptance criteria in order to meet product quality/reliability objectives - Designing and developing Test applications to improve test and debug of PCBA's - Reviewing supplier/in-house test to ensure test coverage meets incoming quality demands - Planning, establishing and documenting the sequence of operations required to test or debug for use by others. - Diagnosing failing product, to component level. - Providing a technical interface with vendors generating formal reports of results or recommendations. - Formally logging of all quality issues. - Directing technical staff, coordinating quality control activities - Developing training material for new products. - Providing presentation material relating to the Integration and Test process. - Analysing quality data and suggest test strategy improvements. - Providing 3rd level support - On occasions representing the department at various world-wide locations.
The position provides an ideal environment to gain knowledge in both system test and data-storage techniques within a company at the forefront of Storage technology.
Essential Skills: - A good overall knowledge of analogue and digital electronics is essential - All aspects of product test including inspection techniques, ICT and functional test. - Functionality of complex PCBA's. - Use of test equipment such as Logic Analyser, Oscilliscopes, Protocol Analysers to root cause faults at a PCBA and/or system level. - Elements involved in the assembly of PCBA and the methods of process control. - Formal report writing. - Customer facing communication. - An exposure to computer programming (scripting etc.).
Desirable skills: - Data storage solutions. - Disk drive technology. - Digital High Speed Serial Protocols. Eg FC.SATA SAS - Design for Test/Manufacture guidelines. - Boundary Scan. - C programming. - Familiarity with UNIX/LINUX operating systems. - Familiarity of board electrical design - CAD packages etc. - Soldering skills (ideally to IPC610). - PCBA inspection skills (ideally to IPC610).
