Hardware Engineer
We are a recruitment agency and our Client is urgently seeking an experienced and talented Hardware engineer for an electronic design team working on complex digital processing systems for a range of satellite equipments. Working within a matrix project management environment, the successful individual will be an expert in his/her field with a positive attitude and flexible approach. As an experienced hardware engineer you will be an expert in your field and be expected to perform a range of electronic design duties working within a team.
Essential: A good degree in physics or electronic engineering or equivalent. Skilled in digital electronic hardware design, design for manufacture & test and design verification / analysis. Experience in FPGA / VHDL & digital hardwar design skills. A self starter, with good communication skills and computer literate. Proven electronic design experience with a strong understanding of electrical & electronic engineering fundamentals. Knowledge & experience of digital circuit design including combinational, sequential, algorithmic, synchronous & asynchronous circuits. Enthusiasm, high motivation, a professional attitude and an aptitude for problem solving are considered essential. Must be computer literate, have good communication and presentation skills.
Desirable: Experience of using CAD systems such as Mentor. Flight design experience in the area of satellite electronics. Knowledge of high speed signal processing. Embedded and/or analogue electronic design skills FMECA Analogue design skills. FPGA / VHDL design experience Analogue design experience Knowledge of software and /or embedded systems Flight design experience Self-starter Team player Confident Optimistic with a positive outlook and good work ethic Assertive Strong motivational level Responsible, accountable and professional Flexible approach UK travel required, possible occasional travel overseas Good health and attendance record Security clearance
Key Supporting Skills Design analysis, e.g. parts stress, worst case, reliability, FMECA, etc. Extensive experience/knowledge of a wide range of electronic design automation tools and processes, including: schematic capture, verification and physical realisation of digital, analogue and mixed-signal circuits at various levels of packaging, e.g. ASIC, FPGA, PCB, MCM Knowledge and proven experience of FPGA VHDL design processes Aerospace background Product cost - sensitivity to overall non-recurring & recurring costs Project schedule - sensitivity to resource implications of design
Main Activities Preparation and analysis of technical documents and participation in bid proposals e.g. requirements documentation, test procedures, verification documents, design analysis etc. Design and development of complex electronic systems for flight Designing for manufacture and test Attend & actively participate in project review meetings Component selection - technology, interpretation of data-sheets & specifications, technical discussions with component vendors & their representatives, qualification programmes
