Building Services Design Engineer - oxford
Our client is an award-winning consultancy specialising in Building Services. With a great reputation working on some of the biggest and best projects They pride themselves with an outstanding reputation for quality and innovation and currently they are looking for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to be based in their Oxford Office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare initial budget costings and monitor design development/cost implications.
• Undertake principle design calculations associated with HVAC systems (e.g. gains/losses, ‘U' values, duct and pipe sizing, fan and pump sizing) using computer software packages.
• When required, attend Client/Design Team briefings to establish project criteria.
• Produce Tender quality drawings in accordance with QA Procedures using AutoCAD.
• Attend site to undertake survey of existing installed services to establish location and content (but not condition or adequacy for re-use) unsupervised.
• Liaise with CAD and Admin. Departments to achieve drawing and document production to meet Client deadlines.
• Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the Practice Quality and Operational Procedures.
Requirements:
• A number of years of experience within BS Consultancy
• Degree qualification in relevant engineering discipline
• Proven track record in design of Mechanical Building Services for commercial, residential, retail and leisure projects, from inception to completion
• Able to deal with all aspects of project
• Familiarity with budget costing methods
• Membership of appropriate engineering institution
• Ability to undertake principle design calculations associated with HVAC systems
• Design professional, conversant with relevant building regulations and CIBSE codes and guides
• Software skills including: IES, Hevacomp, Barbour Index, Specification Expert, Microsoft Office would be an advantage
£37,000 - £48,000 + benefits (priv healthcare, pension, bonus)
