SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGNER

Our client is on the leading edge of optical technology and has built up an excellent reputations since their foundation in 1936. The growth over the years has been dramatic and mainly attributed to their policy of diversification and the successful identification of merging markets relating to their technology knowledge.
Role:
As Senior Mechanical Designer you will work as part of an inter-disciplinary team designing and preparing for production, a wide range of novel plastic optical systems. The role is one combining mechanical design using ProEngineer and project management.
You will have an opportunity to become fully involved in the engineering process. Working with Optical Engineers they will be involved in designing optical components and their mechanical housings and related parts.
Appropriate training will be given to the right candidate to enable them to fulfil this challenging role.
Qualifications:
Degree or HND level in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
Skills:
Must be fully competent in the use of 3D CAD, preferably with experience of using ProEngineer. Good basic engineering skills are required with a good understanding of mechanical principles. You should be fully competent in drafting and tolerancing to the relevant international standards.
You must be confident communicators, organised, with attention to detail, drive and ability to complete tasks to tight timescales.
Experience:
industrial engineering design experience with at least 2 years experience of designing mechanical components for injection moulding.
Remuneration:
To c£30K dependent on experience + healthcare, 25 days holiday.
