Company Description

World leader in the Defence Electronics industry developing cutting edge solutions to meet the operational requirements in the field of combat, surveillance and air transport.

Position

The Technical Author will have at least 3 years experience in the preparation of documentation, ideally in the field of Defence Electronics. The Technical Author will be fully conversant with the SGML standard, with a working knowledge of Defence Standard 00.60. Ideally the applicant should have an electronics engineering background. Some experience of Integrated Logistic Support and the associated data base applications that are used would be beneficial. Specifically the Technical Author should be experienced with Desk-Top Publishing systems, MS Office applications and SGML or HTML editing software. The Technical Author will work in a team environment, preparing electronic documentation and reviewing technical publication data. Support the Senior Principal Technical Author to: Liaise with LSA and System Engineers to understand the product. Assist in the management and configuration of a Common Source Data Base as part of the Integrated Logistics Support. Review Sub Contractor plans, processes and deliverables for consistency and compliance with the in-house processes. The Technical Author will prepare SGML data modules from LSAR and Suppliers data. The Technical Author will support the management by attending Suppliers meetings to ensure quality of delivered data. The Technical Author will be prepared to use the company tools to manage and extract relevant data to prepare the IETP data. BTEC National Certificate (electronics) or equivalent, with technical authoring experience or equivalent practical authoring experience
