Summary of the role

A key member of the project team with responsibility for providing the project planning service, through all delivery gate stages, under the supervision of the relevant Project Control Manager. These schedules shall be suitable for review and approval by all stakeholders and for use by estimating and risk prior to submission for final approval.


Key accountabilities

• Ensuring performance in accordance with the requirements of company policy and management systems within all areas of this roles responsibility
• Implementing best practice planning policy, processes and procedures on projects
• Providing project plans which identify timescales and resource requirements within levels of certainty which allow effective monitoring, forecasting and control of time scales on projects to minimize the likelihood of schedule overruns
• Developing logic, including critical paths and incorporating resource allocations for the monitoring and reporting of progress against that planned
• Monitoring and co-ordinating the flow of information to ensure that interfaces both within and across projects are effectively managed
• Progressing programmes, monitoring and reporting on project performance, highlighting deviations, providing early warnings and identifying and presenting project slippage recovery strategies
• Maintaining the project schedule baseline in accordance with approved project changes
• Summarising data through the programme hierarchy from detail to summary levels
• Developing and managing data to capture earned value and identify work rates, norms and trends, and performance indicators utilizing earned value techniques
• Responding to customer feedback on planning performance
