Major Defence Company is currently looking for Principle Mechanical Design Engineers, to work within a team, of Design Engineers.
This contract you will be involved with cable design routing/conceptual design. You must be fully versed with Pro/E design engineering.
ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions, including process improvements. 2. Participate fully in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need. 3. Carry out a full range of technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability. 4. Prepare a full range of specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained. 5. Carry out investigations into a full range of problems, issues or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE • Must be well Versed in Pro/E • Significant practical experience and/or suitable vocational qualification • Experience across all aspects of a single engineering area/domain and an appreciation of other areas • Able to work from first principles • Specialist knowledge in at least one area; possibly recognised (or beginning to be recognised) as an expert • Good working experiences in more than one phase of the engineering life cycle, with sufficient experience of the total life cycle to ensure a good understanding of adjacent phases and through-life engineering issues • Commercial and financial awareness; able to manage budgets • Capable of managing projects/work packages • People and team management capabilities • Able to deal with multiple issues, tasks and priorities concurrently • Good understanding of other parts of the business • Substantial analytical and problem solving skills • Knowledge of customer and user requirements • Full understanding of relevant engineering and quality standards • Organisational/co-ordination experience; ability to work with and through others • Up to date knowledge of all issues in relevant specialist area(s)
Due to the specific nature of this role, candidates holding current SC clearance are highly desirable. Successful candidates who do not hold current clearance shall be requested to undergo National Security Vetting procedures. Please be aware that the Security Vetting process can take several weeks depending on the level required.
