Introduction:
Our client is a leading shipbuilding company who, due to expansion, immediately require a number of Mechanical Fitters to join their growing team based in Portsmouth. This is a very unique and interesting working environment where you will make a direct contribution to building new ships for the Royal Navy.

You will be responsible for fitting a ride range of machinery, including engines, gearboxes and propulsion shafts into newly built ships.

Working hours are Monday - Thursday 6.30 am to 4.00 pm (4 day working week). The salary is £21,008 plus overtime and benefits, please see below.

Suitable candidates are encouraged to apply immediately.

Applicant Requirements:
- Served and successfully completed a recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship and a relevant trade qualification e.g. City & Guilds, ONC, HNC.
- You will have experience of the installation and maintenance of Gearboxes, Diesels, Gas Turbines, Pumps and High Pressure Compressed Air, ideally but not essentially within a marine working environment.
- You must be self-motivated, reliable and able to demonstrate good time keeping.
- This work is physically demanding and you will need to be a team player to ensure project deadlines are met.
- Able to read basic engineering drawings.
- Knowledge in the correct use of workshop machinery.
- Appreciation of Health and Safety.
- Team player.
