Senior Electrical Application Engineer – recent experience in LV switchgear and motor control systems – design/AutoCAD – based Watford – salary £28 - 35K
We are looking for a Senior Electrical Application Engineer who is qualified to degree level or, having served a recognised apprenticeship, to HNC/D or equivalent and who has a broad electrical engineering background and recent experience in LV switchgear and motor control systems.
Candidates for the position of Senior Electrical Application Engineer should have the ability to produce detailed design from a customer specification and be able to select components through to specification of test schedules
Competency in the use of AutoCAD to produce schematic and single line diagrams for electrical systems is required as is experience in a supervisory position within an engineering environment or the ability to demonstrate readiness to move up to a supervisory position
Knowledge of system automation processes including PLC systems, SCADA and networked systems would be an advantage.
Experience in a project management function and in the use of MS Project is a requirement as are effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to produce high quality technical documents and reports.
The main purpose of the role is to provide the senior engineering function within a company that supplies electrical systems, equipments and control products to the industrial and the defence sectors and to support the sales, manufacturing, support and product development processes by developing effective engineering solutions to meet agreed requirements
Day to day duties of the role will include
• Leading an engineering team incorporating both electrical technician and mechanical draughtsman
• Allocating work, giving technical direction, maintaining engineering data and systems to enable the production of CAD drawings
• Design and development of electrical equipments and systems
• Taking ownership of designated projects and provide overall project management
• Maintaining design control activities within the company quality management system
• Developing Integrated Logistic Support solutions
• Providing technical information in support of codification of spares and components.
• Supporting product development activities including the design, costing and development of new equipments or systems
• Attending and producing monthly management reports and meetings.
All candidates should be capable of achieving UK MoD security clearance
