Job description

Our client is a large and progressive multi-disciplined contractor and consultancy.  The company has extensive plans to open new offices and create a new region to service Oxford, Berkshire and Hampshire regions (outside the M25).  With an order book exceeding £205m in these counties, the future is looking very promising.  All projects exceed £20m and are all design and build.

Scheme details

Project value: £34m
Location: Newbury
Programme: Build programme extended to 2012 final account stage

The project comprises of both the design and construction of a new pathfinder secondary school in Newbury under the SECE framework agreement.

The scheme totals 14,500m2 and will cater for 1650 pupils. It comprises of the construction of 5 separate 3 storey buildings with a covered central courtyard. Each block is to be of concrete frame with unitised cladding with green roofs.

The scheme is to be constructed on the site of the existing schools playing fields, whilst the current school remains in operation. Phase two will then construct new sports pitches and car parks on the site of the existing school.

Main tasks and activities

1. To manage turnover and costs against budgets

2. To liaise with clients on financial issues and to attend regular client meetings and progress financial account meetings

3. To coordinate procurement and management of subcontractors

4. To coordinate collation of information and to prepare regular financial reports

5. To prepare valuations of work on site

6. To prepare and authorise subcontract payments

7. To measure and agree subcontract package accounts
