JOB PROFILE Transportation is a core sector of Mott MacDonald Group business. The Unit provides a wide range of technical, managerial and analytical services to our customers throughout the world.
The specific project that Mott MacDonald requires a Resident Engineer for is a £200m major Port redevelopment to ensure full delivery capability in landside engineering. The construction contract will likely be let at the end of April 2008 due to run for two and a half years.
JOB DESCRIPTION The Marine Works Inspector will be responsible for taking all necessary measures to ensure that the marine works entrusted to the contractors under their supervision are carried out in strict compliance to the project’s quality standards and objectives.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to: • Check all construction quality control plans issued by contractors on the basis of the projects’ management procedures. • Ensure that resource of contractors and their resource requirements are deliverable to project requirements. • Analyse additional works, modifications and causes to propose solution(s) for implementation. • Coordinate with operations in matters pertaining to quality control, inspection and testing. • Confirm all construction quality control plans are inline with client’s project quality management procedures. • Monitor, audit and attend intervention points on project quality control plans. • Confirm, report on non-confirmation and implement rectifiable action for the completion of validity and traceability of data book documents. • Check, improve and implement Health and Safety requirements. • Assisting the project manager in assessing the progress of works and compensation events. • Analyse additional work and modifications to determine the cause and propose the solution to be implemented.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION The successful candidate(s) will be integrated into the project management and success delivery of project specific incorporated into the whole project function. It is essential that that any individual is capable of establishing credible relations with the client, senior project personnel, contractors and site personnel quickly.
The successful candidate is likely to have the following characteristics: • Ideally the candidate will be degree qualified or equivalent although qualified by experience (QBE) is of equal value. • Applicants need to have had extensive on site project supervisory and delivery of project quality experience ideally in a large or multi-disciplinary engineering project. • Capable of assisting in site operations and integrating all influencing factors with minimal project disruption. • A strong understanding of/and capable of quickly problem solving and assisting in resolution of site Health & Safety.
