JOB PROFILE Transportation is a core sector of Mott MacDonald Group business. The Unit provides a wide range of technical, managerial and analytical services to our customers throughout the world.
The specific project that Mott MacDonald requires a Resident Engineer for is a £200m major Port redevelopment to ensure full delivery capability in landside engineering. The construction contract will likely be let at the end of April 2008 due to run for two and a half years.
JOB DESCRIPTION The Assistant Resident Engineer will be responsible for ensuring Mott MacDonald’s successful delivery to key performance indicators for Landside engineering are achieved. During the progress of the construction, the Assistant Resident Engineer shall consider alternative engineering and environmental solutions in order to determine appropriate cost effective solutions for all elements of the design.
Responsibilities of the role will include but not limited to: • Assist in Managing Landside engineering construction of the civil works to include Geotechnical and ideally Marine engineering overview. • clarifications, and the preparation of final civil works contract documents; • Check, approve and verify the Contractor's final design submissions; • Supervise the construction of the works and the correction of defects. • Work closely with the Resident Engineer to review and approve the contractors’ materials, equipment and workmanship. • Ensure that the design and construction of the works are programmed effectively and completed on schedule;
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION Candidates will already be in possession of relevant academic qualifications, be exceptionally experienced since professional qualification and be able to demonstrate exceptional engineering competences ideally in marine projects.
• Ideally full project lifecycle in a resident construction engineering environment expected to have been gained over 4+ years in similar projects • Experience as a project manager with involvement and interaction a range of levels will benefit any applicant. • An engineering degree (or equivalent) with membership of a professional institution • Performed the duties of an Assistant Resident Engineer on at least one major project • Extensive experience of D & B contracts, design experience, construction supervision experience, ideally marine engineering, experience of claims and contractual matters • A professional and conscientious approach ensuring a timely and successful delivery of project deliverables.
