A globally recognised consultancy, who operate extensively throughout the UK require an experienced individual to join their Reading office and drive their quantity surveying offering forward.
The role will involve becoming an integral part of the Thames Water AMP4 Water programme and driving the commercial aspect in the office forward.
The commercial service includes the provision of estimating, negotiating target costs with Contractors, input into the Risk & Value management processes, Benchmarking and post contract cost management of water network projects. Responsibilities:
• Demonstrable ability to operate as lead surveyor on large and medium sized projects • Responsible for planning and managing the delivery of the surveying elements of projects (including resource time and cost) either alone or through a multi-disciplined project team • Capable of working on their own initiative, with minimal supervision • Responsible for the commercial performance of contractor “performance Partners” • Responsible for TWUL commercial performance within designated project programme team area • Assist in providing best practice and continuous improvement within delivery teams • Ability to manage small commercial team within overall commercial management process, including resource planning and communication • Advise and assist in carrying out risk and value management processes. • Ability to estimate network projects accurately in a timely manner. • Assist in “data collection” for Thames Water Engineering Estimating System (EES). • Ability in supporting Senior QS/Commercial Manager in reporting to the Board.
Skills / Experience Required:
• BSc • Extensive experience in infrastructure, preferably with either infrastructure network or process experience. • Candidates with Water experience would be ideal. However, any good infrastructure experience may suffice with Actual Cost/Target Cost contract experience in a Partnering environment.
